Filming begins: Tom Cruise in Babelsberg

Starting last week, Tom Cruise, Armin Mueller-Stahl and Carice van Houten have been acting for the camera in Berlin and Brandenburg for "Valkyrie," a film directed by Bryan Singer about the Stauffenberg assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler. Also involved are Germans Christian Berkel ("Flame & Citron"), Matthias Schweighöfer ("Soloalbum") and Thomas Kretschmann ("King Kong"). Filming begins: Oscar-winner Caroline Link in Brandenburg

U.S. start: Senator's distribution activities
Berlin-based Senator Entertainment is going into business in the U.S.: the company has obtained the North American distribution rights from The Weinstein Company for Jonathan Levine's horror film "All the boys love Mandy Lane." Crossmedia: Popdeurope 2007

Piazza Grande: Berlin-Brandenburg at the 60th Film Festival in Locarno

Film from Berlin-Brandenburg is represented with four entries at the 60th International Film Festival in Locarno: "Früher oder Später" from the Berlin-based director Ulrike von Ribbeck and the short film "Bende Sira" from Ismet Ergün are in competition. In an open-air screening on Piazza Grande, Martin Gypken’s episode film "Nothing But Ghosts" and the international co-production "The Drummer" from Kenneth Bi celebrate their premieres.
