Competitions and Events

  • Festivals

Medienboard provides funding for festivals and content markets with regional reach. In recent years, this has included the Cottbus Film Festival with its associated Connecting Cottbus co-production market, which has a specific focus on Central and Eastern Europe. Support has also been provided to the internationally renowned interfilm short-film festival in Berlin, and the Sehsüchte student-film festival in Potsdam.

  • Conferences and Events

Conferences and events that enable members of the capital-region media industry to meet and network with one another are a key focus of location marketing and funding activities. The spectrum of these events ranges from the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium in Potsdam, which invites top journalists, policymakers and Internet-company representatives to discuss current political and societal developments, to Quo Vadis, one of the most important international games-development conferences.

  • Prizes

Prizes supported by the Medienboard include the most prestigious and highest-endowed award in Germany, the German Film Award, as well as the young filmmakers’ First Steps Award for German student graduation films and the German Computer Games Award.
