Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced an agreement during gamescom 2017 to establish an incentive for the codevelopment and coproduction of digital media projects between Canadian producers and German producers based in Berlin-Brandenburg. The announcement of the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive was made at the Berlin-Brandenburg reception during Gamescom in Cologne, where Canada is the official partner country.

To qualify, projects must involve producers eligible under both organisations’ criteria. Projects will have to be created for digital platforms and can be either a game, a web series, multiplatform content, augmented reality or virtual reality experiences. Find all information here!

The Games industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Germany’s capital region. Medienboard funds all genres of high-quality, entertaining, and marketable games. This includes both casual games and AAA titles, encompassing debut productions from young game developers as well as established companies’ projects.

Various media and distribution platforms are converging to an ever greater extent. Cross-media formats often produce innovative new approaches. Medienboard thus supports transmedia and cross-media content and new distribution models which cross borders between different media types.

Virtual and augmented reality are no longer simply science-fiction visions. Hardware is available, and the market potential for associated content and applications is huge. The demand for virtual- and augmented-reality content will grow strongly in the near future. Medienboard was Germany’s first funding institution to provide targeted support for the development and implementation of applications in these areas.
