Medienboard funds 35 new projects with 6.7 million Euros

In its second annual round of funding, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg granted more than 6.7 million Euros to 35 new projects that will be produced, developed or distributed by film professionals in the German capital region.


Production funding for national and international films
The biggest amount of funding went to Detlev Buck’s new movie "Alles Wuff" (DCM Pictures, 1 Mio. €) that will shoot on location in and around the capital region. Jan-Ole Gerster also receiving funding for his next movie "Lara" (Schiwago Film, 600.000 €). Gerster’s film tells the story of a difficult relationship between a mother and her son – played by Corinna Harfouch and Tom Schilling. Andreas Dresen’s new project, a biopic titled "Gundermann" (Pandora Film, 500.000 €) is also in the production pipeline. Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg is also supporting "Warum" (Mafilm Martens Film- & Fernsehproduktion, 400.000 €) - the new drama of director Bernd Böhlich. "Victoria" director Sebastian Schipper was awarded funding for his next feature "Caravan" (Missing Link Films, 400.000€), Markus Goller for a tragic comedy entitled "25 km/h" (Sunny Side Up, 300.000 €) and award-winning director Florian Gallenberger for his new project with Ulrich Tukur and Elmar Wepper "Grüner wird's nicht" (Majestic Filmproduktion, 250.000 €). Additional films in production by female directors include "Hanni & Nanni - Mädchengang" (UFA FICTION, 600.000 €) by Viviane Andereggen, "Lolle" (REAL FILM, 400.000 €) by Franzisika Meyer Price, "Lazzaro Felice" (Pola Pandora, 150.000 €) by Alice Rohrwacher and "Ich war zuhause, aber" (Nachmittagfilm, 100.000 €) by Angela Schanelec.

Distribution
Last but not least, 11 new features will be released with the distribution support of the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Among others, these include "In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts" (X Verleih AG, 50.000 €), "Es war einmal in Deutschland" (X Verleih, 20.000 €) as well as the thriller "Brimstone" (Koch Films, 40.000 €) by Martin Koolhoven.

Altogether 66 applications requesting a total amount of 13.9 million Euros were received in this year’s second funding session.
