Berlin/Potsdam – With over 5.7 million euros in funding for 26 film projects, MBB ensures a supply of films – after all, cinema has no time to die!
With over 5.7 million euros in funding for 26 film projects, MBB ensures a supply of films – after all, cinema has no time to die!
In front of and behind the camera, women deliver strong themes – for instance Theresa von Eltz, who explores Einstein’s children, and Jessica Hausner, whose “Club Zero” takes the manipulation of students at an elite boarding school to the cruel extreme. Soleen Yusef is shooting “Sieger sein” (“Winning”) about Syrian girl Mona, who finds her place in the quarter of Wedding and in the world through football, and the Samdereli sisters are filming “Samia”, the true story of a Sudanese runner whose fate is impacted by the Taliban. In “Lady Nazca”, Paula Beer plays the extraordinary German explorer Maria Reiche, who solved one of the world's greatest desert mysteries in 1930s Peru, while Henriette Confurius becomes Dora Diamant, Franz Kafka’s last companion in life, in “Die Herrlichkeit des Lebens” (“The Glory of Life”). The life of Petra Kelly is the subject of Doris Metz’s documentary “Not for Nothing”.
The Wes Anderson family now includes model maker Simon Weisse and his team: they are supplying the gorgeous miniatures and backdrops for the cult director’s new project as well. Til Schweiger is filming the bestseller “The Café on the Edge of the World”. Documentary film creator Reiner Holzemer takes an exclusive look at the exceptional actor Lars Eidinger. And then there is a certain Keanu Reeves, who is returning to Berlin-Brandenburg for “John Wick 4” – welcome back!
