The German Computer Game Award 2025 will take place in Berlin

Berlin / Potsdam - The most important award in the German games industry, the German Computer Game Award (DCP), will be presented in Berlin in 2025. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, in cooperation with the game – the German Games Industry Association – has newly designated the location of the award ceremony from 2025 onwards as part of a call for expressions of interest. Berlin convinced the competition among all federal states for the host role. The German gaming metropolis is thus continuing a long tradition and can bring in its experience. Since 2009, the DCP has alternated annually with Munich, but now the award will again be presented in Berlin. Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner and Helge Jürgens, CEO of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, welcome the decision. Both advocate making Berlin the permanent home of the award.
Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin: "Berlin is Germany's number one location for games. From the very beginning, our city has been the venue for the most important award in the German games industry. Berlin has the right mix of creativity and politics. Here, associations and institutions are present for whom games are a matter of the heart and at the same time an important economic factor. I look forward to welcoming the German Computer Game Award and all its participants to Berlin in 2025 and inviting the nominees to a reception at the Red City Hall on the eve of the award ceremony."
Helge Jürgens, CEO New Media Funding, MBB: "No other federal state promotes games with such a high sum as Berlin, and nowhere else is the industry so dynamic: big players, innovative indie studios, diverse teams, and national and international awards for games 'Made in Berlin.' Anchoring the German Computer Game Award in the capital provides the best conditions, the greatest visibility, and a lot of potential for development. Let's celebrate the industry where it has the best conditions: here in Berlin!"
Accompanying events, proximity to associations and politics, ideal infrastructure, increased support for the award ceremony, and commitment to the games industry in the capital region — all of these are what make Berlin stand out. The city's extensive experience in hosting large international events, the significance of the games industry as an economic factor, and planned strategic partnerships with streamers and TV broadcasters for the DCP are further reasons in favor of permanently hosting the award in the capital. Berlin is capable of sustainably enhancing the production value and impact of the German Computer Game Award.
