“Trüberbrook” by bildundtonfabrik wins DCP 2019 in the category “Best German Game” & “Best Staging”

- Tonight at Berlin’s Admiralspalast, the Medienboard-funded game “Trüberbrook” by bildundtonfabrik received the German Computer Game Award (DCP) 2019 in the top category “Best German Game” (worth 110,000 euros) as well as the category “Best Staging” (worth 40,000 euros). “Trüberbrook” is an atmospheric mystery adventure game taking place in the German province of the late 1960s.

The winner of the special jury award is also funded by Medienboard: the Berlin developers’ conference A MAZE. taking place during the currently held #gamesweekberlin. The conference focuses on gaming art and culture and presents, among other things, unique interactive games, inspiring talks and workshops. The special jury award is given to personalities, institutions, events or other entities with special merit regarding computer or video games or the computer and video gaming industry.

The Berlin-Brandenburg region was strongly represented in the aspiring talent categories! First place in the category “Aspiring Creators – Concept” (worth 35,000 euros) was won by the game “Elizabeth” by Alexander Sartig, Jesco von Puttkamer, Jonathan Kees, Julian Wotjak, Julietta Hofmann and Tobias Hermann. “AnotherWhere” by Benjamin Feder, Dyako Mahmoudi, Laura Reinhardt and Morten Newe landed second place (worth 15,000 euros). Another winner in second place (worth 15,000 euros) in the “Aspiring Creators – Prototype” category was Marlene Käseberg’s “Meander Book” by HTW Berlin.

“Laika” by Mad About Pandas – recently funded by the MBB for a their latest project – received a “Best Children’s Game” award (worth 75,000 euros).

Host Ina Müller presented the German Computer Game Award gala with state minister Dorothee Bär, German minister of transport Andreas Scheuer and Christian Gaebler, director of the Berlin senate office, all in attendance. The German Computer Game Award (DCP) is the most important award for the German gaming industry with 590,000 euros in prize money. It has been awarded since 2009 and honours the best computer and video games “made in Germany”. The specialist and main jury panels, which are made up of distinguished experts, select the best games in 13 categories based on aspects such as quality, innovative content, playing enjoyment as well as cultural and educational qualities.

#gamesweekberlin is currently taking place in the capital until 14 April. The gaming industry as well as gaming enthusiasts are getting together for more than 10 individual events. This year, almost all events are taking place on the premises of the Kulturbrauerei for the first time! Besides the DCP, the Medienboard is funding the Opening Breakfast, Quo Vadis, the Matchmaking Dinner, Womenize!, the German Esports Summit, Gamefest, Indie Arena Booth and A MAZE. #gamesweekberlin is Germany’s leading communication and networking platform for international games developers, publishers, investors and representatives of the whole media industry and last time attracted roughly 15,000 visitors.
