Canada and Germany reopen digital media codevelopment and coproduction incentive

Potsdam / Tel Aviv, June 3, 2019 - Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB) and the Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today the reopening of their incentive for the codevelopment and coproduction of digital media projects between Canadian producers and German producers based in Berlin-Brandenburg. The announcement took place at CoPro 21, the Israeli Documentary Film Market taking place in Tel Aviv.

Now in its third year, the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive’s budget is set at 300.000 Euro, with each funding organization contributing half of the funds.
To qualify, projects must involve producers eligible under both organisations’ criteria. Projects will have to be created for digital platforms and can be either a game, a web series, multiplatform content, augmented reality or virtual reality experiences.

Projects will be evaluated according to a set of criteria, including innovative and creative elements, how they engage the targeted community and audience, the creative team, and the viability of the projects’ budget and timelines.

Since the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive was launched in 2017, seven interactive digital media projects have received over 243.000 Euro in funding.

How to apply
All applications must comply with the guidelines for the Incentive which are available on both the CMF and MBB websites. Click here to access the guidelines. Submissions are open immediately and will close on September 17, 2019

Projects will be evaluated and chosen by a selection committee composed of representatives from the CMF and MBB.

Finding an international partner
Producers interested in finding an international partner as part of this incentive are invited to post a profile of their company on the CMF’s website by clicking here. Profiles will be accessible to all, including potential partners from other countries.
