2 Berlin International Film Festival Bears for Medienboard-funded films "I Was at Home, But" by Angela Schanelec and "System Crasher" by Nora Fingscheidt

– Congratulations to director Angela Schanelec on winning the Directors’ Bear for the MBB-funded film "I Was at Home, But" and director Nora Fingscheidt on winning the Silver Bear – Alfred Bauer Prize for her MBB-funded long film debut "System Crasher"!

Medienboard managing director Kirsten Niehuus: "Ladies, you rock! Congratulations to Angela Schanelec and Nora Fingscheidt and their teams on winning the two Silver Bears of the Berlin International Film Festival! You made the festival shine! We are extremely happy that MBB-funded directors were not only represented at a higher rate than average at the Berlin International Film Festival, but are now also honored with 2 main prizes!"

Niehuus continued: "It was a lavish film party which elated the capital and served as a worthy farewell to Dieter Kosslick. Thank you, dear Dieter, for 18 years of film culture which you helped create, shape and fill with character! My hat is off to you for your commitment, your inspiration and your passion with which you made the festival an audience favourite and turned the film capital into a magnet for spectators. Thank you for making the Berlin International Film Festival great again!"

The independent juries of the 69th Berlin International Film Festival also awarded Medienboard-funded directors and films: Nora Fingscheidts competition entry "System Crasher" received the Berliner Morgenpost’s readers’ prize; Annekatrin Hendel’s documentary "Beauty and Decay" received the DEFA foundation’s Heiner Carow prize, and Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu’s "Transit Times" was awarded the Kompagnon fellowship 2019 – congratulations!

In the context of the Berlin International Film Festival, dffb alum Julian Radlmaier received the German Screenplay Award for the Medienboard-funded project "Blutsauger" (“Blood sucker”) – congratulations on receiving the Golden Lola! Finally, the MBB-funded film "Zwei Herren im Anzug" (“Two gentlemen in suits”) received the German film critics’ award for best screenplay – congratulations to Josef Bierbichler!
