2 European Film Awards for Medienboard-funded films

- And the European Film Awards 2020 go to...! The grand finale of the digital European Film Awards from the Berlin Futurium honours 2 Medienboard-funded films – congratulations to “Undine” and “Berlin Alexanderplatz”!

Paula Beer convinced the jury for European Actress in the Berlin fairy tale “Undine” (Christian Petzold), for which she was also honoured with a Berlinale Bear at the beginning of the year. Previously, film composer Dascha Dauenhauer had already received the award for European Original Score for “Berlin Alexanderplatz” (Burhan Qurbani).

Medienboard managing director Kirsten Niehuus: “The EFA are a digital highlight at the end of this wild year that has turned everything on its head. Beyond the pandemic, it makes European film culture visible and confronts the crisis with its immense European diversity. We hope that the power of European film will soon shine from the cinema screens again and that film creators and cinema lovers will once again be able to experience FILM! Congratulations to all the winners of the European Film Awards, big thanks to Marion Döring and Wim Wenders for their years of dedication and passion for European film – and best wishes to the new EFA leadership!”

Two of the most important EFA pioneers, European Film Academy President Wim Wenders and Managing Director Marion Döring, will be bid farewell this evening. A warm welcome to the new President, Polish director Agnieszka Holland, who forms the new EFA duo alongside Managing Director Matthijs Wouter Knol.
