The potential is vast: the games industry is an economic force for the region and a technology driver. It gains attention with unique content, as witnessed by the numerous nominations and awards achieved at today’s DCP. Congratulations to all the winners of the fantastic games studios!”

Helge Jürgens, MBB Managing Director for New Media Funding:

“Such a sunny day for the games capital region: many congratulations to local games developers on their successes at the DCP! We’re also much pleased with the great response to our first SPOTLIGHT GAMES BERLIN event which attracted more than 120 guests from politics, media and the industry to the Change Hub, and with the 4 ‘cheques are back’ from successfully funded games!”

‘Cheque is back’ at SPOTLIGHT GAMES BERLIN

4 Berlin studios have paid back their funding, a total of 370,000 euros, to the MBB: Randwerk Games for Abriss – Build to Destroy, Crafting Legends for Death Trash, Point Blank Games for Strayblade and Maschinen-Mensch for Curious Expedition 2. The MBB team and State Secretary for Economic Affairs Michael Biel received the symbolic cheques during SPOTLIGHT GAMES BERLIN.

The SPOTLIGHT GAMES BERLIN get-together was organised by the MBB for the first time to exchange and network with the regional and Germany-wide games industry before the DCP – people attending ranged from founders to impulse generators and creative newcomers to established producers. On Thursday afternoon at the Change Hub Berlin, more than 120 guests from the industry, politics and media took part in keynote meetings and panels, discussed the latest developments and celebrated the games industry.
