8 Oscar nominations for Medienboard-funded films

Berlin / Potsdam / Los Angeles – A genuine first: 4 films with Medienboard funding were nominated for Oscars a total of 8 times!

Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s “Never Look Away” (production: Wiedermann und Berg) is in the running for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography. Paweł Pawlikowski can hope for a trophy in the main category Best Directing as well as Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography for his film “Cold War” (distribution: Neue Visionen) which received distribution funding. 

2 Oscar nominations for the Studio Babelsberg co-production “Isle of Dogs”: the Wes Anderson stop-motion film is contending for the golden boy in the categories Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. The nominees for Best Documentary Feature include Talal Derkis “Of Fathers and Sons” (production: Basis Berlin Filmproduktion).

The Academy Awards ceremony takes place on 24 February at the Dolby Theatre.
