Berlin increases Medienboard funding for DIGITAL FILM PRODUCTION by 1 million euros

PRESS RELEASE

Berlin / Potsdam
– The special programme DIGITAL FILM PRODUCTION, launched in 2020, is meeting with great demand despite coronavirus-related production restrictions. The Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises is therefore increasing the funding pot by a further million to a total of 5 million euros in 2020/21.

Ramona Pop, mayor and Senator for Economics, Energy, Public Enterprises, Berlin:
“By increasing the funding programme ‘Digital Film Production’, we want to further support and expand this future industry. The current high demand shows that the industry is picking up speed again after the coronavirus-related film production lull. Digital effects can also be used to create scenes that cannot be filmed in real life due to infection control regulations. With the additional funds, we are giving an economic boost to digital film production in Berlin.”

Kirsten Niehuus, Medienboard managing director:
“The new funding programme is off to an excellent start! Digital film production is becoming an increasingly important part of film-making. The increase in funding is a sustainable investment in the future of the film and series capital.”

Medienboard promotes digital film production. As a rule, executive producers in Berlin can receive a 20% grant for virtual image design as long as funds last. Further information can be found in the DIGITAL FILM PRODUCTION leaflet on the Medienboard website. You can also find more information on the funding programme here!
