Canadian-German Virtual Exchange

With the first Canadian-German Virtual Exchange, the Medienboard brings together Canadian and German companies from the interactive digital media sector

Berlin / Potsdam – Successful continuation of Canadian-German cooperation in the field of interactive digital media: Medienboard, together with its Canadian partners Ontario Creates, Creative BC and the Trade Commissioner Service, hosted the first Canadian-German Virtual Exchange. 34 producers and developers from Berlin, Brandenburg and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and British Columbia met over three days in more than 175 curated one-on-one meetings.

Medienboard responded to the pandemic-related situation with this digital event. Cancelled fairs, markets and festivals also mean that there are virtually no new contacts between companies and personal exchange is lacking.

Stated Helge Jürgens, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg managing director for new media funding: “Virtual, yet connected by our common goal, we have experienced intense intercommunication with Canada through the Canadian-German Virtual Exchange! We are pleased to announce that this new format has been a great success in connecting Berlin-Brandenburg with Canadian digital companies. Canada is a world leader in terms of production of and government support for digital interactive content, which makes this collaboration so valuable to our site.”

“We were able to make some very promising contacts for the future”, stated Maite Woköck, CEO of Telescope Animation, summing up the digital event. “It was effective, very nice and definitely took us a few steps towards further collaboration with Canada.”

Since 2018, Medienboard has been providing targeted support for transatlantic cooperation in the area of interactive digital media, including the joint Canada Germany Digital Media Incentive by Medienboard and Canada Media Fund (CMF).
