The common project by Berlin-based CALA Filmproduktion ("Licht", “Jelinek”, “Klandestin”) and Extreme Emotions ("Cold War", "Ida") from Łódź - who specialize in historical material - tells the story of the decline of a village community in Western Pomerania shortly before the end of the Second World War. Filming for the project by Film University Babelsberg alumni Ulrike Tony Vahl is scheduled to start in early June 2023. Director Ulrike Tony Vahl also wrote the script for the film.

The German-Polish Film Fund aims to strenghten cooperation and exchange between Polish and German film producers. Acclaimed projects supported by the Film Fund include the documentary “The Hamlet Syndrome” by Elwira Niewiera and Pjotr Rosolowski and “Never Gonna Snow Again” by Malgorzata Szumowska, both of which received critical acclaim and won numerous awards at international festivals.

The next submission deadline for applications for development or production funding for German-Polish film projects will be announced early next year. Further information is available on the websites of MBB, MDM, FFA and the Polish Film Institute.
