MBB continues funding and activates aid programme

PRESS RELEASE

Even in times without a screenplay, we are hoping for a happy end after corona!

Berlin / Potsdam – Medienboard, as previously reported, takes part in the federal and state-wide funding aid programme. From 11.00 h today, application forms for pro-rata funding of corona-related extra costs will be available on our website.

To enable the film and media industry to start production as soon as possible upon relaxation of the lockdown measures, we also promised new funding: 6.4 million euros for 24 film and new media projects.

Kirsten Niehuus, managing director for film funding: “The corona crisis is an existential threat to the entire film industry. We hope that the interplay of all funding measures will take effect and make the damage survivable for the industry. Besides MBB participation in the federal aid programme of all funding institutions we intend our current funding promises to contribute to a restart of film and series production as soon as possible, meaning as soon as it's safe. This way, new films and series can be created once more in the capital region, and jobs can be secured.”

16 projects receive 5.4 million euros in funding; the complete FILM funding list can be found => here.

Helge Jürgens, managing director for new media funding: “The message to the series, gaming and digital industry now is also: support projects and strengthen enterprises! In these extraordinary times, the mission is to keep the pictures moving and to support the industry – be it producers, developers or event organisers! Berlin-Brandenburg stands for an innovative and thriving new media industry which must be secured!”

9 projects are funded with more than 1 million euros; the complete NEW MEDIA funding list can be found =>  here.
