PRESS RELEASE

Kisses, nudity, physical closeness and sex play a big role in movies and series. In the MBB web talk “Intimacy coordination in film and television productions” on 29 April, experts once again confirmed how important professional safe spaces and protective mechanisms are, especially in moments of physical closeness in front of the camera. To prevent abusive or ambiguous situations, it is strongly recommended to hire a trained intimacy coordinator. The costs for this will be recognised by Medienboard with immediate effect.

Eva Hubert, head of Themis Vertrauensstelle:
“Themis Vertrauensstelle aims to protect affected persons from sexual harassment in their workplace in the cultural sector. The use of intimacy coordination is an extremely helpful preventive measure for dealing sensitively with the boundaries of everyone involved. We highly recommend it.”

Kirsten Niehuus, Medienboard managing director:
“No surprises, no improvisation, but clear agreements and transparency for all involved make shooting intimate scenes safe. To make intimacy coordination more common, MBB is subsidising the cost.”
