The German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund was established in 2011 by MBB, MOIN Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Istanbul Film Festival – Meetings on the Bridge. The aim of the fund is to strengthen German-Turkish cooperation and to promote joint film projects between the two countries at an early stage of development. Over the course of its 10-year existence, the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund has already been able to support several successful projects. Last year, for example, the film When I’m Done Dying by Nisan Dag, produced by Red Balloon, won the Best Director Award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. In 2019, Emin Alper’s drama A Tale of Three Sisters, co-produced by Berlin-based Komplizen Film, screened in competition at the Berlinale.
