German Computer Game Award: 5 Awards for Games from the Capital Region, Studio of the Year Comes from Berlin
Berlin / Potsdam – A dazzling gala for the German Computer Game Award in Berlin! This evening, Germany’s most prestigious award for the games industry was presented at a new venue, the Palais am Funkturm. Five awards went to studios from the Capital Region: Megagon Industries was named Studio of the Year. Additionally, VAMPIRE THERAPIST by Little Bat Games and ODDADA by Sven Ahlgrimm, Mathilde Hoffmann, and Bastian Clausdorff both received a DCP award, with both projects funded by MBB. Other winners include Happy Broccoli Games with DUCK DETECTIVE: THE SECRET SALAMI and Grizzly Games with THRONEFALL.

Happy Broccoli Games is one of four studios that, as part of SPOTLIGHT GAMES BERLIN held in the ballroom of Berlin’s Red Town Hall, have repaid their MBB funding. In total, €366,000 is flowing back into the funding pool. Florian Graf, Head of the Berlin Senate Chancellery, used the opportunity to praise the success of the local games industry and emphasized the importance of reliable federal funding and tax incentive models. These, he stated, are essential for keeping Germany’s games sector internationally competitive and for strengthening Berlin as a games hub.

The nominations for the two Berlin-based games LONELY MOUNTAINS: SNOW RIDERS by Megagon Industries and THRONEFALL by Grizzly Games in the category Best German Game each come with a €30,000 prize. For its nomination in the Young Talent Award – Best Prototype category, the MBB-funded VR game ECHOES OF MORA by Selkies Interactive receives €25,000.
