German Video Game Award is Coming Home: Gala 2025 Shines in New Splendor – at the Palais am Funkturm

  • New Event Concept
  • Hosts: Katrin Bauerfeind and Uke Bosse
  • Nominee Lunch with Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner
  • #GamesSpringBerlin: DCP, Spotlight Games Berlin, A MAZE.

Berlin / Potsdam – Berlin is once again the stage for the German games industry! The German Video Game Award (DCP), the most prestigious award for computer and video games in Germany, returns to the capital on May 14, 2025—and in a brand-new location: the Palais am Funkturm (Messe Berlin). The awards will be presented in the venue’s historic ballroom.

With a new event concept, fresh stage design, and space for up to 600 guests, the gala aims for even greater prestige and brilliance. The choice of Palais am Funkturm, which has hosted renowned award ceremonies like the German Film Awards, offers an ideal setting for a premium event. Additionally, the trade fair grounds provide future opportunities for synergies with other gaming-related events, further developing the DCP into a festival highlight with an authentic Berlin DNA.

The gala will be hosted by TV presenter, actress, and author Katrin Bauerfeind alongside entertainer Uke Bosse. As always, the DCP will also be streamed live on Twitch.

A Special Highlight: The Nominee Lunch at the Rotes Rathaus

On the day of the gala, Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner will, for the first time, invite all nominees to a festive lunch at the Rotes Rathaus. For around 100 game developers, this will be an honor and an opportunity to present themselves and the video game industry to Berlin’s political leaders.

Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner is excited about the event:
"The German Video Game Award is back in the capital. Berlin offers the best conditions for an event of this caliber. That’s why the city wants to establish the DCP here for the long term. This award is the most important recognition for computer and video games in Germany and sends a strong signal for the future of the German games industry."

Helge Jürgens, CEO New Media Funding of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, adds:
"Honoring the developers of Germany’s best games at a new venue with a fresh event concept and stage design will bring even greater impact! The new gala, as part of our #GamesSpringBerlin, makes it clear: The DCP belongs in the capital!"

Messe Berlin Welcomes the DCP

Messe Berlin is also supporting the growth of the gaming industry in the capital and is committed to establishing the new location as a permanent home for the DCP. It stands alongside the event organizers – The German Games Industry Association and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), as well as key partner Medienboard, to ensure the event’s success.

Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, states:
"Messe Berlin is delighted to host the German Video Game Award for the first time and to expand its event portfolio to include the gaming industry. Together with Governing Mayor Kai Wegner and his Deputy, Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey, we support this dynamic sector, which is one of the most important pillars of the media economy in Berlin. The gala at Palais am Funkturm will elevate the DCP to new levels of prestige and production value."
