MBB in Venice: 4 funded films, 6 funded XR experiences and an XR delegation on the Lido
Berlin / Potsdam / Venice - Grande presentazione a Venezia! MBB is pleased about 4 funded films and 6 funded XR projects at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. Germany is the partner country of the Venice Production Bridge, the festival’s co-production market. Together with German Films and other state sponsors, MBB is presenting Germany as a film and XR location on the Lido and is travelling with a delegation of Berlin-Brandenburg companies to the Venice Immersive XR section.
4 MBB-funded films celebrate their world premiere in Venice and bring big stars of European cinema such as Isabelle Huppert, Mads Mikkelsen and August Diehl to the Lido!
The competition for the Golden Lion presents the mystery thriller Die Theorie von Allem (Timm Kröger) with newcomer Jan Bülow along with the drama King’s Land (Nikolaj Arcel) with Mads Mikkelsen. The Turkish-German co-production Yurt (Nehir Tuna) is screening in the competition in the Orizzonti section, and Élise Girard’s drama Sidonie in Japan with Isabelle Huppert and August Diehl will be shown at the Venice Days (Giornate Degli Autori).
6 MBB-funded experiences at Venice Immersive – including 2 projects in the virtual reality competition: Aufwind (Volucap) and Emperor (Reynard Films) are in the running for the Venice Immersive Prizes. Tales Of The March (Daring House) has been selected for the Biennale College Cinema VR section. At the Venice Production Bridge, the 3 experiences Selina (Trotzkind), Living With The Snow Leopards (NowHere Media Gaedtke & Parameswaran) and An Empty Seat (High Road Stories) are being shown.
Focus on Germany
15 Berlin-Brandenburg XR companies are taking part in the MBB delegation trip to Venice Immersive and are visiting the market, exhibition, conferences and networking events, as well as presenting themselves at the MBB Coffee Reception. At the German Booth, Berlin-Brandenburg XR companies present their projects. The country presentation will focus on 2 XR panels and a roundtable with Berlin-based Oscar winner Edward Berger (“All Quiet on the Western Front”).
