Berlin / Potsdam - In its second funding session of the year, the MBB’s New Media Funding supports 25 projects from the areas of games, XR and innovative content as well as series with 2.3 million euros in total. This includes 10 games with 803,000 euros, 5 XR projects with 785,000 euros and 10 serial formats with around 730,000 euros.

The enormous growth of the games and XR industry is reflected in the application situation – the states of Berlin-Brandenburg recognised this trend at an early stage, and increasing new media funding means that more projects could be supported within a single session.

The sectors are growing closer and closer together and creative synergies are coming forth: for the first time the family entertainment format ASTRO & BLOB (by the makers of DIGEDAGS from Potsdam) is a title that’s being promoted in both the games and series sectors. In the XR sector, renowned filmmaker Wim Wenders is co-author for the ATMOSPHERE project. Overall, XR games strongly benefit in this round of funding: in addition to two VR games, LASER LIMBO is also being supported, a mixed reality local multiplayer that sets new standards in terms of technology.

This time the series segment has a wide range of target groups and topics with content for children (EIN DINO NAMENS FRED) and young adults (SEEN), comedy shows and documentary series (DER ANSCHLAG, WORLD WHITE HATE).
