MBB supports new films and series with 4.7 euros million

Potsdam / Berlin - Cameras rolling, sound on... switch on the light for Tom Tykwer’s new cinema film "Das Licht" starring Lars Eidinger and Nicolette Krebitz, which is mainly being made in Berlin! Ulrich Köhler is presenting a ‘film within a film’ with "Gavagai" in the capital region and West Africa – the cast including Maren Eggert, Jean-Christophe Folly and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Following her major festival success "Cocoon", Leonie Krippendorff is shooting "Gepellte Haut" once again with Jella Haase and Lena Urzendowsky. In "Transit Times", Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu tells of the disintegration of Moldovan society following the end of the Soviet Union. After her Scooter documentary, Cordula Kablitz-Post takes on the metal band Kreator, and Charly Hübner accompanies the band Element of Crime for his documentary film "Wenn es dunkel und kalt wird" in Berlin. The successful series "The Palace" about Berlin’s legendary Friedrichstadt Palast gains a sequel, with Jeanette Hain, Marc Hosemann, Luisa-Céline Gaffron and Alina Levshin once again part of the prominent cast.

With MBB funding, Berlin-based Amusement Park Film is developing the series "Das achte Leben" together with showrunner Sarah Lambert, based on the bestselling novel by Nino Haratischwili. Oscar winner Stefan Ruzowitzky realises "Alone" based on a screenplay by Stephen Susco. Dark Ways receives a package grant for the development of three projects, including the series "Bad Girls" (directed & written by Lena Stahl) and "Treibjagd" (script: Daniel Kehlmann).

At its summer meeting, MBB pledged a total of €4.7 million in funding for 34 new film and series projects.
