MBB Supports Regional Development Initiatives in the Capital Region with €7.3 Million

German Film Awards, Berlinale Talents, ON SCREEN @ re:publica, and the Festival Showcase DAS MANKO at Series Mania Lille

Berlin / Potsdam – In the first half of 2026, Medienboard is strengthening the diverse film and media landscape of the German capital region with approximately €7.3 million in funding. The supported regional development initiatives in the fields of film and new media include major festivals, conferences, industry-specific training programs, networks, and award ceremonies, as well as cinema investments and international showcases.

Together, these initiatives make Berlin-Brandenburg the hub of creative and innovative film and media production in Germany and position the capital region as a hotspot for the international industry.

The German Film Awards, Berlinale Talents, ON SCREEN @ re:publica, TINCON, and A MAZE. are brands whose impact extends far beyond Berlin-Brandenburg, making them outstanding ambassadors for Germany’s number one film and media location. Alongside initiatives such as the Babelsberg STARTBÜRO, XR Creator Con, and the seminars offered by the Erich Pommer Institute, which are also among the more than 160 regional development initiatives funded each year, they form the creative ecosystem of the capital region. These platforms serve as places for networking, knowledge transfer, and talent development.

Innovation emerges where creativity, technology, and business come together. MBB-funded regional development initiatives create spaces for exchange and fresh impulses, further strengthening Berlin-Brandenburg’s position as a leading media and innovation hub.
