The Future Starts Here! In late May, STATION Berlin will again become the hot spot for the industry’s creatives, producers and digital community. Using the motto “Who cares?”, famous speakers, visionaries and decision makers will discuss at re:publica the most important media topics of our time. MBB is funding several events taking place during the #rp24, helping to promote the development of media locations: the new XR PORT BERLIN, re:publica 24’s media track and the TINCON’s conference with focus topic digital youth culture.
Helge Jürgens, CEO New Media Funding, MBB: "We are very happy about the significant MBB attendance at #rp24! With XR PORT Berlin, we welcome a new pioneering event in the capital region that will give more visibility to XR technologies and further strengthen the role of the region as a leading center of development for XR. At the media track, we bring together players from the world of moving image production for a wide range of talks. At TINCON we support the media creators of tomorrow. We give center stage to the media location of the future – let’s meet at re:publica!"
NEW: XR PORT BERLIN @ republica // STATION Berlin // May 27 to 29
A growing XR industry, increasing production budgets: the future’s technologies such as virtual production with VFX, XR, 360° content, games engines or volumetric capturing drive the future innovation of media locations. MBB supports this new event, aiming to reinforce the international reach of the industry. At the three-day event XR PORT BERLIN, an international delegation of 10 high-profile XR professionals have the opportunity to kick-start co-productions and collaborations. Curators, producers and distributors from France, Luxembourg, USA, Taiwan and Great Britain will find out about the capital region’s narrative and conceptual immersive projects as well as VR games. In addition to B2B and networking events, a studio tour has been organized. THE PORTAL will host an exhibition of XR works which will bring together not only the industry’s decision-makers and producers, but also consumers, media creators and emerging XR artists. Thus, at re:publica, XR from the capital region will gain more visibility and be opened up to a wider audience. #MBBFunded
MEDIA TRACK @ re:publica // STATION Berlin // May 27 to 29
Big challenges loom for media, journalism and new public spheres: what exciting approaches are there for platform monetization? Does the future lie in subscription models, the creator economy, community journalism or assuming a non-profit status? After Twitter’s downfall, how are communities such as Mastodon, Bluesky changing alongside giants like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn? What are the new findings about artificial intelligence?
The track "Media and Public" provides a stage for the Audiovisual Creative Industry. The highlight of this thematic focus on media concentrates on how artificial intelligence is changing the way films and series are being produced. Attendees will get a sneak peak behind the scenes by producers and see the latest film and media technologies "Made in Berlin-Brandenburg." Various creative minds, producers and decision-makers at the forefront of the industry will discuss the streaming market’s current developments, fiction and non-fiction (also including "Meet the Team"), viral storytelling on TikTok and much more. #MBBFunded, supported by Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg.
TINCON @ republica // STATION Berlin // May 27 to 29
For the first time ever, the TINCON convention will come to Berlin for three whole days and take place concurrently to re:publica at STATION. At the heart of TINCON will be a focus on the advancement of media competence, democracy, dialogue with the scientific field and the bolstering of young people’s confidence and self-assurance. At various talks, panels and workshops, more than 80 speakers, including Nico and Arne Semsrott, Gizem Çelik, Gesina Demes, Parshad and the Belton brothers, will be in attendance. Topics will range from pop culture, lifestyle and tech to network policy, activism and science. Due to the upcoming European elections, the topics of fake news and political communication are more timely than ever. Strategies of political communication will be explored and speakers will present inputs about disinformation and populism. #MBBFunded
