Medienboard, Nipkow and the Berlinale launch 'Berlin Film Residencies' website

Berlin / Potsdam – Medienboard, Nipkow Programme and the Berlinale are cooperating to combine their know-how and networks regarding residency grants. The new website Berlin Film Residencies provides an overview of the various grant programmes supported by the Medienboard: BERLIN Artist-in-Residency (BERLIN AiR), Nipkow programme and 'Haus am See'.
International filmmakers can use this portal to obtain information on how and where to apply for a resdiency in the capital region. The creative atmosphere here had a significant impact on the creation of "Foxtrot" (Samuel Maoz), "Lunchbox" (Ritesh Batra), "Gloria" (Sebastián Lelio) as well as Karim Ainouz’s "Zentralflughafen THF" and "Praia do Futuro".
Ritesh Batra - "I loved the time I spent in Berlin, the creative energy of the city and its people. I think it made my writing and me as a writer better for it. There is no place like Berlin, it is testament to the possibility of healing and reinvention, and the infinite possibilities of stories, both real and imagined. I was honored to have this artistic experience there."
Samuel Maoz - "When I first came to Berlin, I received a massive hug from the Medienboard that continued throughout the residency period, to this day."
In turn, filmmakers from the capital region can find offers for international residencies to work on their projects abroad for a few months, in inspiring locations, as e.g. Pola Beck and Jan-Ole Gerster did in the past.
Pola Beck - "My summer in Tel Aviv left such a strong impression on me. I absorbed experiences and encounters that helped my project. It’s super that MBB funds all these opportunities for filmmakers to expand their horizons and spend time in different places around the world."
Jan-Ole Gerster - "The residency I had in Mexico was one of the best experiences of my life. Mexico is an incredibly friendly, beautiful, colourful and vibrant country."
