New Media Funding: €1.6 Million for 15 New Games, XR and Series Projects
Berlin / Potsdam – In its second meeting of the year, the New Media Funding Committee is awarding around €1.6 million to 15 games and XR projects as well as serial formats.
In the category Serial Formats, five projects will receive funding, including the second season of the successful ZDF sports documentary THE WAGNER BROTHERS by Flare Film, and the vertical drama HERMANN JOSEF from the series universe HAUS KUMMERVELDT by Goldstoff Filme, winners of the Grimme Award.
In the Games category, BRICKEBURG (Playing History) and SPINVENTORY (Missing Medusa) are receiving production funding. Five additional projects will receive development funding, including creative friendslops or delivery games.
In the area of Innovative Audiovisual Content, the committee is supporting SHOAH VR (WT), a commemorative project for memorial sites and museums by the Potsdam-based company Arkanum Pictures. In addition, for the first time, location-based experiences without VR are being funded, including the immersive installation NEBULA, which takes place at the Beelitz Heilstätten.
A total of 50 applications were submitted, requesting funding of around €5.5 million.
