Berlin / Potsdam – In its first funding round of the year, the New Media Funding Program of MBB is supporting 28 projects across the fields of games, XR experiences, and serial formats with a total of €4.8 million—a positive signal for the industry!

Serial Formats: As part of a broadcaster collaboration with ProSiebenSat.1, the second season of the SPREEWALDKLINIK series will produce 126 new episodes, filmed on location in Berlin and Lübben (Spreewald)—amounting to 165 shooting days in the capital region!

Other series projects include documentaries, true crime, comedy, and social media formats, as well as animated children's stories and coming-of-age narratives. These productions offer diverse perspectives and contribute to cultural memory and contemporary societal debates—exploring topics such as young anti-Nazi resistance fighters, East German spies, and the lives of sex workers.

Games: The funded game projects span a wide range of genres and perspectives—from the Oracle of Delphi to sci-fi and underwater adventures. Players will be able to explore ecosystems as a parasite on a giant snail, guide a flock of sheep through Andalusia, breed their own dragons, build and defend medieval castles, or engage with the history of the Holocaust in a serious game.

Immersive Experiences: The selected immersive projects invite audiences to co-develop a futuristic neighborhood, explore the Turkish city of Izmir before its destruction, navigate the labyrinthine paths of existence, examine human psychology through the lens of sexuality in a social VR experience.

This funding round once again highlights why Berlin-Brandenburg is a hotspot for new genres, innovative formats, cutting-edge production technologies, and the next generation of content creators.
