MBB Introduces Selection Committee
Berlin / Potsdam – To ensure a transparent allocation process, Medienboard is restructuring its funding system to a committee-based model. Starting with the next funding round, industry experts will decide on applications in both film funding and new media funding – covering all stages from development to production.
The respective film funding committee consists of five members: four rotating film and cinema experts (creative/dramaturgy, production/financing, distribution, broadcasters) selected from the pool listed below, plus the CEO of Film Funding, Sarah Duve-Schmid. Decisions on new media funding are made by a rotating six-member committee per session, which always includes the CEO of New Media Funding, Helge Jürgens.
The first funding sessions with these committees will take place in January 2026. The first and most important contacts for consultations and funding applications remain the MBB funding officers.
